It’s a sunny afternoon, in the balmy month of June;

 I remember when I was a kid, the breezy summer nights;
A little league game played under the lights, camping in my own back yard.
Life was full of wonder then, so many neat things to do;
Like ridin’ our bikes to the ice cream stand, a 30 cent movie down town.
It was fun bein’ a kid in the summertime, livin’ in a carefree way;
I loved growing up in the summertime, I loved living life that way.

Then I grew up and went off to school, to learn how to make my way;
When I met the girl who’d be my wife, and be with me all my days.
Our first date was at the root beer stand, on a starry summer night;
Hand in hand we fell in love, walking in the bright moon light.
We fell in love on a summer night, and we’re still in love today;
I love being in love in the summer time, I love living life this way.

 Now summer’s moving into fall, the harvest is coming on;
And I think of the things I’ve learned through the years, the many things I’ve done.
I think of the summers that I’ve seen, and the memories I savor there;
All the good friends and wonderful times, and the fun that we all shared.
Good friends, good songs and the summer time, lettin’ life have it’s laid back way;
I love singing songs on the summer breeze, I love living life this way.
